FORMERLY SEATTLE CHOCOLATE

Turns out, we can have it all. We’re championing ethical practices while cheering on your taste buds. When you pick Maeve, you’re choosing a sustainably sourced, eco-conscious, woman-owned brand that gives back – and you’re also choosing FUN.

we get it, we got you

Look, we’re nothing without our people. Maeve Chocolate is brought to you through the work of many hands, and we’ve got their backs - from the farmers around the world to our team here in Seattle. That means sourcing our cocoa and ingredients ethically, giving back to farmers with every purchase, and having a real good time with our team of chocolate lovin’ Maevens.

10% of our net profits go to farmers

women for chocolate

Women for Chocolate is a public-private partnership that brings together the skills and sustainability commitments of Maeve, Three Mountains Cocoa, and Rikolto, a non-profit organization, with financial support from the Belgian government and coordination by Specialty Cocoa & Chocolate Associates. Our vision is to ensure that the farmers who work so hard to grow the cocoa in Maeve chocolate receive the world’s best support for their farms and their families to thrive. High five to the teams at Three Mountains Cocoa and Rikolto for bringing this project to life every day in Ghana, and for helping to make our vision a reality!

loans for farmers

Cocoa farmers earn most of their income during just 3-4 months out of the year, in the main harvest season. When a farmer faces large expenses outside of that season, such as buying back-to-school supplies, the VSLA-supported savings and loans can make all the difference to their family budget.

regenerative agriculture

Our partners focus on best agricultural practices to ensure cocoa farms and farmers stay healthy long into the future. Three Mountains Cocoa cooperative provides specialized training to farmers in regenerative farming focusing on soil health, carbon capture, and biodiversity. Farmers learn to replace chemical fertilizers and pesticides with organic compost and natural alternatives, ensuring resilience and a more sustainable future for cocoa.

trees for the future

Women for Chocolate supported development of a new tree nursery in the Three Mountains Cocoa community, which is supplying agroforestry seedlings to farmers. The community chooses what to plant, prioritizing cocoa tree seedlings and shade trees, which protect cocoa trees, improve longevity, and boost farm productivity. Greener farms = stronger yields.

fresh water

With our partners, we’ve installed two wells: one in the Cocoa Mmaa women’s co-op and another in the Three Mountains Cocoa co-op. Access to clean water not only reduces the burden (mainly on women) of fetching water from far away, it also opens doors for income diversification, like pig farming. Fresh water means brighter futures.
